Commitment to Diversity
Over the past 10 years, The Career Center has sponsored and encouraged
staff members to participate in a variety of multicultural professional
development activities including attending the MLK Jr. Symposium,
participating in cross-cultural experiences, and hosting intergroup
dialogues about race.
The Career Center staff teach four classes: Exploring Careers (a
psychology course rooted in the career development process), Exploring
Alternate Careers (a Residential College course focused on career
decisions for liberal arts majors), Women in Careers (a class with
a multifaceted curriculum centering on issues of women and work),
and Psychology of Career Choice Development in College Students.
The Career Center collaborates on over 300 programs per year with
offices such as the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives,
the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Affairs, the
Office of New Student Programs, and the International Center along
with various academic departments and student organizations to prepare
programs and coordinate outreach to diverse student populations.
