Wolverine Health Explorers (WHE) is a non-residential summer camp for high school students interested in gaining exposure to a number of health professions while also deepening their understanding of their own personal interests, values and skills. WHE is sponsored by the University of Michigan Career Center.
During summer 2012, two camps will be offered—same schedule, just different dates:
» [This session is FULL] SESSION #1: Monday, June 18 through Thursday, June 21
» [This session is FULL] SESSION #2: Monday, June 25 through Thursday, June 28
TIME PERIOD: 9:00 AM-3:45 PM
Being a non-residential summer camp, participants must be able to commute daily to Ann Arbor or make overnight arrangements on their own. Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to apply. Recent high school graduates will be considered as space permits. Participants will engage in a variety of stimulating, hands-on activities in several schools and colleges on the UM campus, interacting with UM faculty and staff, research scientists and graduate students. They will learn about opportunities in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, genetic counseling, nursing, public health, movement science and research. Given the traveling nature of this program, participants must be prepared to walk/relocate from site to site, for a total of approximately two miles per day. Participants will be accompanied by UM student chaperones or staff members to all activities.
While applications will be accepted until both camps sessions are full, due to the limited number of available slots and the anticipated strong demand, early application is strongly encouraged. The $300 registration fee includes all activities, supplies, and morning and afternoon snacks. Students, however, should plan to bring their own lunch. Please note that the online registration won’t be considered complete until full payment is received. A limited number of scholarships will be available through The UM Center for Educational Outreach (CEO).
Registration confirmation e-mails and further details will be sent once the camp sessions are formed in mid-May.
