Medicine
Because…you don’t have to make all these decisions on your own!
The Career Center offers multiple resources and
services to students preparing for a career in medicine. A team
of counselors specializing in pre-medical matters is available to
assist students with:
- Conducting personal assessments
- Investigating and choosing a career
- Exploring and deciding on a major
- Identifying opportunities to obtain health-related exposure
through employment and volunteering
- Understanding timing and process of the medical school application
- Building a file with reference letters
- Reviewing personal statements
- Researching medical schools
- Preparing for medical school interviews
- Evaluating multiple admission offers
- Developing contingency plans for those who fail to gain admission.
Many of the services offered are on a one-on-one basis (counseling
and advising, personal statement reviews, videotaped practice interviews),
but opportunities for group interactions are available as well via
programs and workshops, career fairs etc.
To schedule an appointment with a pre-medical counselor, please
call the office at (734) 764-7460 during business hours. Half-hour
or hour long appointments can be made, depending on your needs and
schedule.
